Resolutions are a great start but real results come from tangible goals.

We’re all about applying a growth mindset and setting ambitious goals — perhaps even audacious ones — as you’re likely to achieve more than mediocrity [1].

Why is that?

The pursuit of goals engages your frontal lobe, providing rational thinking that specifies the details of the goal, and the amygdala, which is the emotional centre that evaluates the significance of the goal [2].

Pursuing ambitious and emotive goals will drive maximal synergy between these 2 parts of your brain and hack your dopaminergic system to stimulate neuroplasticity. It might even help alleviate cognitive decline [3].

At Compound, we celebrate leaning into difficulty, setting a challenging goal, and adopting a growth mindset to stretch your potential. Back yourself in because your brain will rally to your cause and may even rewire to underpin ongoing outperformance.

We approach goal-setting in a structured way.

Outcome goal

This will vary based on your priorities and your diagnostics (e.g. get to target weight, improve biomarkers, improve conditioning, etc.) but it’s important to tap into a deeper ‘why’ to stimulate your amygdala.

Performance goal

We encourage setting ambitious athletic goals on a 3-12 month horizon (e.g. complete the CrossFit Murph test, unweighted) as this will provide an anchor for healthier behaviours to underpin performance in every part of life.

Process goals

The small, incremental actions across training, nutrition, recovery and mindset that form the pathway to achieve your performance goals, and ultimately your downstream outcome goals

Sure, we’ve all set goals before but when was the last time you set an ambitious goal and did something tough outside of your career? High-achievers often focus all their goal-orientation at work but it’s just as important to apply the same structured goal-setting process to our health.

We’d love to work with you to put this into practice.

Compound is a digital clinic for performance health, for men. Once the exclusive domain of billionaires and Hollywood stars, we're on a mission to make premium concierge care accessible to every man who wants more.

We are integrating diagnostics (bloodwork, scans, etc), treatment (medication, supplementation), performance programming, and support (coaching, accountability, care) — wrapped around a growth mindset.
